To prevent accidental deletion of files, you can use a trash can. To ensure compatibility between multiple applications, you can use software (CLI, GUI or Library) that follow the [https://specifications.freedesktop.org/trash-spec/trashspec-latest.html FreeDesktop.org's Trash specification].
